How to get well naturally

How to get well naturally and change the flow of money into your life – Have you ever wondered what impact your thoughts have on your health and wealth? Apparently we have 60,000 thoughts a day – a mix of both conscious and sub conscious thoughts.  The normal protocol when you have a pain or illness is to either rest, pop a pill or go to your doctor/hospital, but what if there was another way to sort out your health concerns? This article will help you learn how to get well naturally.

In the UK, only some complementary therapies are accepted within the NHS, as there is the need to ensure that there is evidence based research proving whether they work or not.  Strange really, as all therapists have to be fully trained and insured to practice and individuals can choose to pay to see a private therapist.  So there is freedom of choice anyway.  The approach within the NHS is very logical and prescriptive and does not look at the person holistically and this logical approach can seem very cold to some individuals, especially those who are naturally spiritual.

Way back in 1998, if someone had told me that I could fully recover from Chronic Pain Syndrome by changing my thoughts and behaviour, I would have laughed at them and said that it was not possible.  I was very logical!  I had had hundreds of doctors appointments and had seen specialists in the field of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology, Pain Management, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy.  I had got to the end of the line in help available on the NHS.  My pain was no better and I was just frustrated that nothing was working.  I was miserable.  I felt I could not tell doctors how I was feeling and was very sensitive to what they said. I suffered from anxiety and depression on top of the pain.

I had been working quite happily until 1996 as a Catering Manager at Heathrow Airport.  On Christmas eve, circumstances changed. I had an accident, whilst throwing rubbish into a compactor.  That accident changed my life. On the surface, it was no big accident, but it lead to me having 2 years off work.  I was so conscientious and didn’t like taking time off sick; I just kept working for another month until I could not walk.  I had a twisted pelvis and a swollen knee and had no idea what damage I was doing.  The pain was immense.  I felt the job and earning money was more important than putting me first. Basically, I did not love myself.

During the 2 years off work, as well as going to my very many medical appointments, I was given the opportunity to study.  I was on incapacity benefit and at the time, you could attend free courses.  I learned how to use a computer as well as attending some complementary therapy courses and at the end of 1998 (6 weeks after my empowerment to Reiki) I was off benefit and helping my fellow students as their teacher at the local college.

I was back on the road to normality.  I became a teacher and within 7 years was a leading teacher trainer at a college. During this time, I had become a coach and I started to become much more self aware and as time went on I learnt Neuro Linguistic Programming, Time Line Therapy, Hypnotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Emotional Freedom Technique and progressed up the Reiki levels.

The consequence of completing the different therapies was that I had a heightened self awareness of how I was reacting to life.  Quite frankly I had reacted badly for many years!  The interesting thing was that as I took more responsibility for my life, my pain reduced and I became happier and happier.  As I changed my thinking from being negative to being positive and living my life from Abundance rather than Scarcity, more positive things happened in my life.  Health, Wealth and Happiness are interlinked in the mind, and I had to change how I was behaving.  I stopped focussing on my lack of money and started focussing on my happiness.  What I had not realised, was that I was subconsciously comparing myself to my twin sister who is a GP.  I always thought she was better than me and put myself down.  I also had had many accidents in my life, which were all related to me not speaking up for myself.  I had always been quiet and lived in the shadow of my sister and siblings.

In essence, a combination approach is needed to get yourself well again. Doctors do their very best to get us back to full health, however if we as patients take responsibility for our health, everyone has the power to heal themselves.  Being monitored by your doctor, having some mind therapy and learning energy techniques is a winning combination!

So if you have been suffering with Chronic Health problems for a while, you can take action.

Top Tips:

  1. Start listening to your thoughts.  Pay attention to the link between the negative emotion you are feeling, the negative thoughts you are having and how you are behaving.  Change something – change your feelings, negative thoughts or behaviour, so that it is more positive.

  2. Change how you are reacting in a situation.  Ask yourself are you being non-judgemental or judgemental or yourself or others.  Being non-judgemental is the way to be.

  3. Put on a learner hat at all times. When you are in a situation when you are unhappy, what can you learn about yourself? What can you change? How can you take more responsibility rather than blaming others?

  4. Try learning more about positive thinking techniques such as Neuro Linguistic Programming, Hypnosis, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Coaching.  Lots of free resources are available on the internet – use Google or Youtube.  Get some help in changing your mindset and thought processes if you are a natural self saboteur!.

  5. Learn to meditate.  By clearing your mind on a daily basis and by using breathing techniques, you will allow your body to get back in balance naturally.  Practise saying 10 things you are grateful for, every day, for life!!

  6. Consider being empowered to Reiki and learning how to tap with Emotional Freedom Technique. Both are energy techniques, and moving the energy in your body is the missing element that you can’t get on the NHS.

  7. Read more about how to change your thought processes.  Louise Hay wrote ‘You can heal your life’ in 1985.  This book indicates to you how your health concerns are linked to your thoughts.  Latest research and therapy is now proving her theories and Meta-Medicine is an NLP based therapy which helps reprogramme you to overcome your health concerns.

Great post, Liz. I totally agree about the shortcomings of he NHS in terms of their unwillingness to work more holistically. I have just finished reading You Are The Placebo by Dr Joe Dispenza and I highly recommend is book to anyone who is looking to take more control of their health and life.
