Christmas has been and gone so fast as always.  Did you ride through it ok or did you find it kind of challenging?

Are you feeling positive or negative post Christmas?

Are you feeling positive or negative emotions post Christmas?

The thing about Christmas is that it throws up a multitude of memories.  We remember things about our childhood, good and bad as well as those loved ones who are no longer here to celebrate with us.  We are triggered all the time by familiar smells, music, decorations, and seeing relatives and friends we often only see during the festive season.  Our emotions are heightened and there are two ways this can be – positive or negative.  For those who love Christmas, you will be feeling a sense of joy, happiness, fun, excitement, peace and for those of you who have not found it so positive, you may be feeling loneliness, hopelessness, anger, sadness, guilt, hurt, or annoyance.

If Christmas is less than positive for you at the moment, you maybe want to consider being more mindful about each moment you are in.  Look at how you are behaving or reacting in every situation?  Make a decision to yourself to change.  Your mental and emotional health is so important.  If you are feeling lonely, what do you need to do to re-connect with others? If you are feeling angry, what can you do to get rid of it? If you are feeling anxious about 2016, what would make you more secure?  If you are grieving for a loved one, what can you do to lift the sadness and to see the blessings of what you learnt from the person when they were alive.  Practising mindfulness, allows you to ‘live in the moment’ and to release those negative feelings.  Release your past and stop living in the future with anxiety.  By being mindful and accepting yourself, you can have the life that you truly desire.

Now is the time to reflect on your positive and negative emotions and to take your life in your hands and make 2016 an amazing year for you.  Life is for living.  If Christmas has left you feeling stressed and anxious, then now is the time to take action.
